Zack Made us Aware

Raising awareness of the mental health risks and challenges facing our youth and parents, and actively contributing to suicide prevention education and efforts within the Edgemont community and school.

The ZMA Foundation was formed in honor of a student in the Edgemont community, Zack M. Angus, who took his own life on May 11, 2022.

ZMA not only stands for Zack’s initials, Zachary Markham Angus, but it also represents the meaning behind our foundation: Zack Made us Aware.

Our goals are to:

  1. Increase focused and effective suicide prevention education in our schools;

  2. Implement mentoring programs that recruit and train student and parent mentors as resources to support all members of our community with questions, concerns and challenges related to mental wellness and suicide prevention; and,

  3. Foster an open and positive dialogue among students, parents and teachers to increase open discussions on mental health awareness and suicide prevention and reduce the stigma attached to discussing and acknowledging mental challenges.

Our hope is that through the ZMA Foundation we can provide additional suicide prevention and mental health awareness tools to the Edgemont community.
